Dr. Odro and his wife, Joyce, have been married for 39 years. They love to travel and to plan all the details of their trips. Whether he is hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire or following a trail in the French Alps, Dr. Odro knows first hand the importance of proper foot gear. A six-hour hike with a painful blister is definitely not fun. He is happy to share some hiking tips:

Choosing proper shoe gear is often a big decision and an even bigger expense. The careful determination made in the shoe department does not always work out when foot problems are a factor. Dr. Odro likes to maintain an active lifestyle, and wants that for his patients. Hi-tech sandals have become quite popular. With Velcro tabs and thick tread, there are varieties for walking, hiking, running, etc., whether on land or sea. It is important to know what is on the market and be able to advise patients as to what may be best for them. Since Florida provides us with so many active lifestyle choices, it is extremely important that individuals maintain good health in order to participate fully in these activities. Every sport has shoes and clothing to go with it; from rock climbing to water aerobics, you can be in style. However, if your feet hurt because of a painful bunion, heel spur, ingrown toenail, or foot deformity, the endless selection of styles and colors will not make that activity as enjoyable as it could be. Dr. Odro was interviewed about Summer foot health for an article in the Life section of "The Ledger" dated June 24, 2003. Dr. Odro's reputation as an excellent diagnostician brings referrals from primary care physicians in the community who seek his expertise. With maturity comes experience, and the diagnostic problem solving that can only be learned over time. With proper medical evaluation and advice, Dr. Odro has helped countless men, women, and children to obtain an active, pain-free lifestyle. Dr. Odro understands that his patients want to feel good at work and to enjoy their leisure time. He makes every effort to get them moving and keep them active, whether they are young or young at heart. Dr. Odro regularly attends Podiatric lectures and seminars to keep abreast of new technology. He has a keen interest in diabetic foot care, orthopedic deformities, and dermatology. In addition, he attends medical lectures to stay up-to-the-minute on all aspects of medicine in order to direct his patients for proper care by specialists. Dr. Odro stays abreast of future trends such as digital x-ray processing, portable ultrasound evaluation (similar to sonograms, synthetic joint implants). After moving to Lakeland and joining Temple Emanuel, using his organization skills, Dr. Odro has chaired numerous committees, and has been Vice President and a member of the Executive Board for over 30 years. With his medical background, he established the Temple Emanuel Blood Bank and serves as Chairman.
He is Past President and one of the original founders of Temple Emanuel Men's Club. Dr. Odro has been the Podiatric representative to the Medical Records Committee at Lakeland Regional Medical Center from 1990 - 2004. In his leisure time, Dr. Odro shares a passion for fishing with his son. Getting up at 4 a.m. is part of the fun. He packs a camera along with lunch, as he will entertain his patients with photos of the Redfish, Trout, and Snook they catch. |
